
History
Through dedication, smart work and attention to detail, Metric Contracting Services Corporation is recognized as one of the premier Heavy Civil Contractors in Southern Ontario. With a clear vision of providing exceptional service in Earth Excavation and Grading, brothers Ennio Liorti and Frank Liorti established Metric in 1978. Since then, the company has expanded its area of expertise into all areas of Heavy Civil Construction including Site Servicing and Land Development. Metric has the expertise and resources to provide our clientele a complete package and through our services on major infrastructure project we have altered the landscape of southern Ontario.
People
At the heart of Metric’s operations are the people which we employ. Metric has 140 core employees including project managers, superintendents, surveyors, operators, labourers, pipelayers and administrative staff. Metric is a signatory to the following Unions:
- Operating Engineers, Local 793
- LIUNA Local 183
- LIUNA Local 506
- Teamsters Local 230
Metric is known for our ability to self-perform critical construction tasks and is able to do so because of our qualified and dedicated site staff. By working with the Unions and utilizing our own equipment, Metric is able to scale up operations with human and equipment resources at a moments’ notice. Self-performing the work results in payoff to our clients in our ability to leverage local knowledge and in-house resources to complete the Work in a better coordinated and more streamlined fashion.
Metric typically has 5 sewer crews and 8 earth crews allowing us to take on several major infrastructure projects in a given construction season.
